MEDecision to Highlight Medical Imaging Innovation at RSNA
CHICAGO & WAYNE, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–RSNAâ09
MEDecision, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, will be an active participant at the 95th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the worldâs premier scientific and educational forum in radiology. The event is being held from Sunday, November 29 through Friday, December 4 at McCormick Place in Chicago and is expected to draw more than 60,000 attendees.
âHealth information exchange (HIE) is poised to play an integral role in the future of healthcare, and image sharing significantly increases its impact,â said Elliot Menschik, M.D., Ph.D.; founder of HxTechnologies, a MEDecision subsidiary, and leader of MEDecisionâs electronic health record (EHR) and HIE solutions. âThe idea of augmenting HIE with an imaging component is gaining a lot of attention because it can bring numerous advantages to each of the various health care stakeholders. As interest accelerates, MEDecision is well positioned with market-leading solutions to support imaging capabilities in HIE strategies.â
MEDecision will provide the key technical infrastructure for the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Image Sharing Demonstration in booth #2843 at the meetingâs technical exhibit in the South Building, Hall âAâ at McCormick Place. The demonstration, which takes place continuously throughout the technical exhibitâs hours, will feature one of the first image-enabled personal health records (PHR) and showcase MEDecisionâs interoperability with Microsoftâs HealthVault.
Further supporting image sharing, Menschik will conduct a refresher course entitled âThe Practical Applications of XDS-Iâ on Monday, November 30, at 8:30 a.m. CT in room S102D. He will discuss the capabilities of IHEâs cross-enterprise document sharing for imaging to establish the on-demand exchange of imaging exams among different institutions on regional and national scales.
In addition, MEDecision will announce a partnership agreement for the cross-licensing and reselling of technology, services and intellectual property. The deal sets the stage for nationwide cross-enterprise patient information sharing.
The RSNA 95th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting features six days of educational programs for radiologists, radiation oncologists, physicists in medicine, radiologic technologists and allied health care professionals. It is expected to include more than 2,400 scientific presentations and posters covering the newest trends in radiological research along with over 1,800 education and informatics exhibits. The event has been held consecutively in Chicago since 1985.
