Walleye Technologies to Present Poster on a New Portable Hand-Held X-Ray Camera Technology for Explosives Detection
BOSTON, MA–(Marketwire – October 8, 2009) – Walleye™ Technologies, creator of the Walleye Imaging System that is capable of “seeing” into and through solid objects, today announced that it has been invited to present a poster at the Department of Homeland Security Explosive Detection Workshop. The workshop, being held at the University of Rhode Island on October 8-9, is part of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Center of Excellence activities.
The subject of the poster presentation will be a new type of portable x-ray imaging technology that utilizes scattered x-ray reflections to create images of concealed objects. The device configuration is handheld and applications include border and maritime inspections for illegal contraband and explosives. Walleye believes that the ability to carry a handheld fully integrated x-ray camera to inspect suspected vehicles or vessels will be a significant advantage for border and military personnel in the search for weapons or explosives.
“Walleye is extremely proud and honored to be a part of this workshop along with some of world’s leading experts in explosives detection,” said Christopher P. Adams, CEO of Walleye Technologies. “We are confident that our portable imaging x-ray technology is the future of explosive detection and that it will dramatically improve our military’s ability to safely detect weapons and explosives.”
This invitation-only DHS Workshop brings together many of the world’s leading explosives detection experts from industry, academia and industry to discuss technical and logistical issues. Topics include innovation in new imaging and detection technologies, security tactics and planning.
